History of Brothers Sew & Vac
Brother Sewing Machine of Washington was founded in July of 1956 by our father and grandfather, Phillip Morris. The original store was located in Takoma Park, Maryland off of New Hampshire Avenue. Phillip and Sylvia Morris had three children, Marty, Jay & Michael. Over the years, the kids worked in the store with their parents and well...the rest is history.
54 Years later and 4 retail stores, Marty, the oldest son, is now semi retired and works part time a few days a week with his son, Bryan. Kinney is our head mechanic also working in the Silver Spring store for over 26 years.
In our DC Store, Jay, the middle son, works full time with mechanics Jose and Mohamed. Jose has been with us for over 15 years and Mohamed for the past four.
In our Rockville/Kensington store is Michael, the youngest son.
Paul, who is Marty's oldest son, works full time in the Bethesda store along with his mechanic, Elmer, who has been with him for the past 9 years.
As you can see, Brothers Sew & Vac has numerous employees who have been with them for many years. Brothers treats their employees and customers like family. We have been very fortunate to run our family business for the past 54 years and have so many great employees and customers that support us.
We are looking forward to another great year and helping you with all your sew & vac needs, air purifiers, floor cleaning machines & supplies - and more!
